From the Great Lakes News February 1943: The Grand Lodge of International Shipmasters convened at Toledo, Ohio January 26 to 28 at the Hotel Secor. Many pressing problems confronted the Great Lakes navigators as the result of the war. The big question of having men enough to man the ships that must bring down the ore and grand and he coal up the lakes. Oil tankers will witness a busy season and the stone and cement ships have large schedules on their lists for 1943. The association conferred with Government officials regarding the U.S. Coast Guard, Light House Service and weather reports.
