Frank A. Blust May 23, 1923 - December 17, 2012 Member of Detroit Lodge No. 7 - 38 Years Initiated January 24, 1974 Pennant No. A-1484 Lodge member Frank Blust passed away
on December 17, 2012 at the age of 89. Frank was
a 38-year member of Detroit Lodge No. 7 and resident
of Fort Myers, FL. Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin,
Frank served in the Army during WWII, where he worked
as an engineer in the South Pacific. Following
the war, he attended the University of Wisconsin,
graduating in 1949 with a Master’s Degree in
Engineering. He moved to Detroit and began
working for the Lake Survey Office, and later moved to
the Washington DC area when the Lake Survey Office was
consolidated with NOAA's main office in Washington. He
retired from NOAA in 1980 and moved to Naples,
Florida, and later to Fort Myers, where he taught
engineering courses at the now Edison State College
until retiring again.
Frank is survived by his wife Mildred, children Victoria Novotny, Kathleen Gray, and Richard Blust, as well as six grandchildren. His only brother, Fredrick Blust, preceded him in death. Every year he was one of the first lodge members to pay his annual dues and was loyal to Detroit Lodge No. 7 to the end, despite living a great distance from the lodge and being unable to attend lodge meetings.
