Lodge member Frank Blust passed away on December 17, 2012 at the age of 89.  Frank was a 38-year member of Detroit Lodge No. 7 and resident of Fort Myers, FL.  Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Frank served in the Army during WWII, where he worked as an engineer in the South Pacific.  Following the war, he attended the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1949 with a Master’s Degree in Engineering.  He moved to Detroit and began working for the Lake Survey Office, and later moved to the Washington DC area when the Lake Survey Office was consolidated with NOAA's main office in Washington. He retired from NOAA in 1980 and moved to Naples, Florida, and later to Fort Myers, where he taught engineering courses at the now Edison State College until retiring again.

Frank is survived by his wife Mildred, children Victoria Novotny, Kathleen Gray, and Richard Blust, as well as six grandchildren.

His only brother, Fredrick Blust, preceded him in death.

Every year he was one of the first lodge members to pay his annual dues and was loyal to Detroit Lodge No. 7 to the end, despite living a great distance from the lodge and being unable to attend lodge meetings.

The family has suggested memorial donations be made to Hope Hospice; 9470 Healthpark Circle; Fort Myers, FL  33908.
