- Detroit, MI
April 6, 2019
Detroit Lodge No 7 held its annual
barbecue on the grounds of the J.W. Westcott Co. on
Saturday, April 6, 2019. Fifty members, spouses and
guests attended the event. The event was hosted by Jim
Hogan, President and Owner of the J.W. Westcott Co. The
main course was prepared by Bill and Mary Lou Griffore,
Jay Downen and Marsha Stanley. The menu of barbecue ribs
and chicken, red skin potatoes and coleslaw was
supplemented by a variety of side dishes and desserts
supplied by the lodge attendees. Tables were set up in
the Westcott lobby and with the weather in the low 50's
with bright sunny skies, the picnic tables on the front
lawn were put to good use as well. Following the
barbecue lunch, Windsor Harbourmaster Peter Berry gave a
powerpoint presentation on progress toward construction
of the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Mr. Berry was
followed by LCDR Matthew Dooris of USCG Sector Detroit,
who gave a presentation on marine casualties handled by
his office during the past year, especially the removal
and scrapping of the sunken Tug Robin Lynn. |
