A story-telling, musical program about the loss of the Fitzgerald, its crew, and the song that told its tale. Hear the stories of the crew members, their families, and the ironies of the ship. Learn how the song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" was written, recorded and performed by Gordon Lightfoot. Hear the song played live by Mike Fornes, who performs as Lightfoot live in concert. Reservations for this event are required. Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM - Great Lakes Memorial Service at Mariners' Church of Detroit. Honoring all of the departed Sailors who have served on the Great Lakes. This event will hold special meaning as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald's foundering on Lake Superior. Monday, November 10, 2025 - 12:10 PM. The bell will ring once more. Special Fitzgerald Anniversary Eucharist Service at Mariners' Church of Detroit. The City of Detroit and beyond will be invited to participate in this worship service, pausing in their work day, to remember and reflect on the 50th anniversary of the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Wednesday, January 28 through Sunday, February 1, 2026 - 136th Annual Grand Lodge Convention hosted by Duluth / Superior Twin Ports Lodge No. 12 at the Holiday Inn Downtown Duluth. The 2026 Grand Lodge Convention will be a full (Wednesday evening - Sunday morning) program, which will include ten meals as part of the convention package, plus pizza on Wednesday night. Lodge No. 12 is actively seeking/requesting early sponsorships and sponsorship pledges (including convention book advertising) to offset the cost of full registrations for our members. The lodge 12 convention page has a PDF-Fillable sponsorship form and convention book advertisement form which can be printed-off and mailed in with a check. In addition, the website can now take on online credit card payments for convention book ads/pages. Although submittal of the actual ad/page is not required until later in the year, the 2026 Convention Committee urges our lodges and routine advertisers to commit and purchase book space early, which in turn will help Lodge No. 12 lower registration costs.
